College Progress

In my NQ Computing Course I've been doing rather well. Passed all my tests in Applications of maths, Visual Basic and of course aced Block One. Web blogs has been rather stagnant but I've gained momentum and finally got the work required in...almost.

Report-T.A.R 21

Length: 28.5 Inches

Weight: 7.21 lb

Calibre: 5.56mm

Action: Gas-operated, rotating bolt

The Israeli made IMI Tavor or TAR-21 is a futuristic, bull-pup rifle designed for urban environments that the Israeli Defence Force often finds itself fighting in. By moving the action into the butt stock, the TAR-21 allows the user to maneuver past tight corners and close spaces.

The Tavor sight is a red reflex sight, eliminating the need to align a fore and rear sight to the target. The sight allows on average a head shot to be made to about 300M due to the magnification gained from the sight.

The Tavor system is highly customisable. Diffrent add-ons for diffrent situations have been developed. The C.T.A.R-21 features a shortened barrel for ship boarding actions while the S.T.A.R-21 has a longer barrel and bipod for marksmenship.

Rifles I've Used: M1 Garand (Single Fire)

Facts:

Length: 43.6 Inches

Weight: 9.5 lb

Calibre: .306

Action: Gas-Operated, Rotating Bolt

Round Capacity: 8

Personal Facts:

While milling around Castlelaw Ranges I found a man, Mr Fergus who had a large collection of Russian rifles. He offered to let me look at the various Russian (single shot mind you) weapons ranging to a Mosin-Nagant right up to an AK-74. I spotted something that I immediately wanted to try out on the range, the M1 Garand.

I asked right away if I could try it out, he obliged and supplied me with a magazine and the rounds to load up. I took my place in the firing pit, loaded my rifle (nearly taking my thumb off in the process) and began to fire away. Much to my annoyance each shot required me to pull the charging handle but overall it was an amazing gun. Slighty heavy and with moderate recoil, the rifle easily made the mark on the bullseye from 300M away.

After all 8 shots, I was pleased to hear that "ping" noise as the clip ejected.

Rifles I own: Winchester .357/.38 Lever Action

Facts:
Length: 49.3inches
Weight: 7.6lb
Calibre: .357 Magnum/ .38
Action: Lever
Round Capacity: 11
Personal Facts:
This was my first ever rifle for me and my dad to own, I like it due to it's lack of weight and lack of recoil due to the barrel and small calibre rounds. I use it for the 25M range, as the rounds lack the power to reach any further than 150M

A little bit about me

I'm Ethan and I'm seventeen years old. I've always been interested in the Army and weapons of different types. I was part of the Air Cadets for two years and got a little bit of shooting practice in earning a Marksmenship. Sadly the times we did get to shoot was very inconsistent, and my dad decided to invest in a rifle, ammunition, gun safe and various other pieces of equipment.

I've had a good time, meeting other people and trying out interesting and very strange firearms on the range.

Hope you enjoy the blog =]
